For: everyone. Estimated time: 2 minutes.

QueryDeck ships as a signed, notarized macOS app. No package manager, no command line required to install.

Requirements

RequirementDetail
macOS14 (Sonoma) or newer. macOS 15 (Sequoia) and 26 (Tahoe) supported.
ArchitectureApple Silicon (M1 or newer). Intel Macs are not supported.
Disk space~80 MB for the app, plus space for your query history and snippets.
NetworkRequired for cloud databases. SQLite works fully offline.

1. Download

Get the latest DMG from querydeck.app. The download is one file: QueryDeck-x.y.z.dmg.

2. Open the DMG

Double-click the DMG. A Finder window opens with the QueryDeck icon and an Applications folder shortcut.

3. Drag QueryDeck to Applications

Drag the QueryDeck icon onto the Applications shortcut. macOS copies the app, which takes a few seconds.

You can now eject the DMG and move it to the Trash.

4. Open QueryDeck for the first time

Open Applications, find QueryDeck, and double-click.

The first launch verifies Gatekeeper signatures. You should see the QueryDeck welcome window within a couple of seconds. If macOS shows a warning, see Troubleshooting first launch below.

5. Start the trial

QueryDeck runs a 14-day free trial on first launch. No login, no credit card. You get the full feature set during the trial. See Trial details.

What's next

Troubleshooting first launch

"QueryDeck.app can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."

This means Gatekeeper couldn't reach Apple's notarization service. Either you're offline, or a proxy is blocking the check. Try one of:

  1. Connect to the internet and reopen QueryDeck.
  2. Right-click QueryDeck in Applications, choose Open, then confirm.

"QueryDeck.app is damaged and can't be opened."

The DMG download was truncated. Delete the file and download again from querydeck.app.

The app opens, but nothing happens.

Check the macOS menu bar. QueryDeck may have opened on a different desktop or behind another window. Press Cmd+Tab to find it.
